IMPORTANT: We at JACK are closely monitoring the developments of breakthrough cases among vaccinated New Yorkers and the rise in cases of the Delta variant among unvaccinated New Yorkers. Being & Becoming was formed in 2017 by composer and trumpet player Peter Evans. Evans' compositions for the band draw from a wide variety of sources, traditional and experimental, with a grounding in improvisational idioms, notated concert music and an array of experimental approaches. The band features Joel Ross (vibraphone, percussion), Nick Jozwiak (bass) and Savannah Harris (drums). Please note that musician Tyshawn Sorey will be filling in for Joel Ross on Saturday, July 31, playing synth, trombone and percussion.

July 30 - Arun Ramamurthy (violin)
July 31 - Alice Teyssier (flutes and voice)

Evans is one of 500 New York City-based artists to receive $5,000 (for these concerts) through the City Artist Corps Grants program, presented by The New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA), with support from the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME) as well as Queens Theatre. This concert is also made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
