August 10th - August 13th
Experimental Bitch: Bitchin’ Heals
Bitchin’ Heals is a weekend of performances, workshops, art markets and mutual aid presented by Experimental Bitch and JACK!
Upending a trauma-centered narrative, Bitchin’ Heals amplifies disabled joy while putting disabled artists and accessibility at the forefront. Bitchin’ Heals is curated by x senn-yuen @tittyglow.jpg and features NYC-based disabled artists.
Created by and for disabled people, LGBTQIA+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, intersex, asexual) people, and Black people, Indigenous people, and people of color, Bitchin' Heals serves as a vessel to increase community access to resources, bridge gaps across the 8 dimensions of wellness, and ultimately reduce mortality rates among oppressed populations by providing tools, techniques, tips, and tricks to achieving self-determination. In a world that does not want us to succeed, what if we survived and thrived, despite it all? From the tangible to the ephemeral, all sentient beings deserve the right to pursue our happiness.

About the Curator
X Senn-Yuen is an Afro-Chinese-Jamaican, second generation (im)migrant, that investigates post-structural and hyper-accessible frameworks of their own design. As a TRANSdisciplinary artist, x interrogates the performativity of self and the embodiment of trauma drawing upon the overwhelming confusion of their lived experiences. Their work manifests as installation, dance-theatre, mixed media tchotchkes and pseudo-Expressionist oil paintings. x is a recipient of the Emerging Artist Initiative Fund, Disability. Dance. Artistry. Dance and Social Justice Fellowship Program, and Voice of the Valley Sound Artist Grant. x also participated in the Fall 2019 Needing It residency at Brooklyn Arts Exchange. x is the founder, executive director, and artistic director of {amdpc}, a multi-dimensional performance company, a grassroots collective of artivists.
About Experimental Bitch
Experimental Bitch (ExB) is a fiscally-sponsored feminist arts company based in New York City that creates, develops, and produces badly behaved, genre-defying performances by emerging TGNC, queer and women artists.ExB is unique because it supports artists whose work is not (yet) legible to mainstream theaters and audiences due to its groundbreaking content, mode of storytelling, and the communities for whom the work is created. ExB supports artists in the creation of innovative work that shakes audiences’ sensibilities, jostles their senses, engages them as active participants, and, in so doing, reconfigures our collective imagination of what theater is, where it happens and who it is for.ExB has three primary programs: production, development, and community programming. Each reflects ExB’s core commitment to supporting emerging and underrepresented artists in the creation of urgent, dynamic, genre-bending work. By re-claiming the title of “bitch” and blowing up the barriers surrounding femininity, feminism and the hierarchies within sexuality and gender, ExB celebrates the bitch in each of you. Face your fear. Face the bitch. Love the bitch.
