Weston, CarriE & Robert play two notes with Jenna
Monday, March 26 at 8 pm
Tickets: $15 general/$10 students (cash only at the door)
Composer/performer Jenna Lyle jets in from Chicago to present two recent pieces for live performers doing one thing for a long time. A plagal cadence will occur over the course of the evening & that's it!
As an artist, Lyle explores how the physical body, and in turn the culture in which it functions, adapts to its semiotic or "data-based" representation. Magnifying the relationship between sonic output and physical process and separating it from the second nature, she often places performers in physical arrangements that force a heightened awareness of body while they execute a set of instructions for sound production. The two works present explore extremely limited sonic materials presented for extended durations, magnifying gestural byproducts of instrumental practice.
PROGRAM:
Carrie & Robert play an Eb [for toy instruments]
feat. Wind-Up Elephant (Carrie Frey [toy viola], Robert Fleitz [toy piano])
Weston plays a Bb [for trombone, video, makeshift vegetation]
feat. Jenna Lyle & Weston Olencki (of Ensemble Pamplemousse)
