Wild Torus: Digital Soul Cycle
$10 at the door
WILD TORUS is a performance art collaborative that engages its disciples through a simulation of cult experiences that challenge contemporary icons and rituals. Digital Soul Cycle (DSC) is a parable of a Spirit Journey in the age of the digital native (those born concurrent with, or after the internet revolution). The piece is framed around the first manned orbit flight by Yuri Gagarin, and the notion of spiritual and physical transformation of the (cyber)space traveler. The cycle lasts 109 min, the length of Gagarin's orbit.
A performer is placed within a vessel, and suspended within a freestanding structure for the duration of the cycle, itself taking place within a multi-wall projection installation environment. The entire cycle features an ensemble cast of accomplished performance artists, performing alongside experimental musicians. The piece explores the notions of alien origins and visitation, sacred geometry and ancient knowledge, anthropocentric holographic universe and reassertion of the human soul as a digital entity.
